Durham Region will take the lead on crafting a bylaw to regulate short-term rentals across its northern communities.
At the May 16 council session, regional Coun. Wilma Wotten told colleagues that, while she intended to bring forward a notice of motion regarding those rentals, the plan has now been “put on hold” after a recent meeting with regional officials and representatives from the other northern townships.
“It sounds (like) the region is going to take the lead on that, and fairly quickly, in trying to put together some bylaws that would work for all of us within the northern communities,” she said.
